Un-Schooling your way back to creativity

It’s only early days in our homeschooling journey, but already I’ve seen something remarkable in Charlotte. What’s unfolding isn’t just about education, it’s about unlearning conditioning and returning to what’s natural.

Charlotte is happier. Her energy has shifted completely, she’s eating better (this was big, she’s 15), resting well, playing with real joy, she’s read a book!, and most of all, creating. The creativity that has reignited in her is the biggest change. It’s as if, without the conditioning of what “learning” should look like, she’s finally free to explore in ways that are natural to her. And in that freedom, she’s learning more and in a joyful and earful way.

Charlotte Sewing herself an outfit, with no patterns or instruction, just a machine some material and a whole lot of creativity!

It has reminded me so much of the body. We spend years layering on habits, postures, stress responses, movement patterns that aren’t natural but learned. They shape the way we stand, breathe, digest, think and even the way we see ourselves. And just like Charlotte, when we start to unlearn those patterns and meet the body where it is, something shifts. Through somatic awareness and natural movement, the nervous system begins to rewire. We step out of the old grooves and into new ones, or our untainted ones/ the ones we are born with more fluid, free, natural and alive.

This is what we bring into our trainings at Marou Home. It’s not really a “Yoga Teacher Training” in the traditional sense. It’s more like a SANMYTTSomatic Awareness & Natural Movement Yoga Teacher Training. We move beyond memorising poses or scripts and instead guide from embodied awareness. We explore meditation, Traditional Chinese Medicine, shiatsu, the meridian system, and above all, how to lead from a place that’s real, grounded, and connected.

2024 YTT Graduates- just a little bit of JOY!

What I see happening for Charlotte in unschooling is the same journey I see for people in practice: stepping away from conditioning and back into what’s natural. From that place, creativity, healing, and true growth happen almost effortlessly.

It’s early days, but this is already changing how I see learning, teaching, guiding, and even living.

If you are looking for a container to spark or reignite that creativity, to rewire habitual patterning, heal and guide from embodied wisdom our 200hr SANMYTT is starting October find all the details here.

With love,

Hannah
