What is The Marou Meditation Project

Inspired by our friends at Be here Nowra, the Marou Meditation project is a community project exploring how meditation can improve the happiness of the individual and a whole suburb. Our goal is to improve the collective happiness of our home community, through meditation.

What is Meditation?

Vedic Meditation is a simple, natural technique that anyone can learn. Practised regularly, it supports a calmer nervous system, clearer thinking, and a greater sense of balance in daily life, helping you meet life’s demands with more ease and resilience.

With experienced guidance, group accountability, and practical knowledge sessions, you’ll finish the course confident in your own daily meditation practice—self-sufficient, grounded, and able to use the technique for life.

What are the benefits of meditation?

Meditators experience a wide range of benefits. Some are noticed straight away, while others unfold naturally with regular practice. Commonly reported changes include more stable energy, deeper sleep, greater adaptability under stress, clearer self-regulation, increased creativity, and an overall lift in wellbeing.

Research also shows that consistent meditation can slow biological ageing and reduce the risk of age-related disease, supporting long-term health as well as day-to-day ease.

How can I learn to meditate?

Courses are taught by qualified Vedic Meditation Initiator Maddy Gray Courses are run over four sessions of 60 to 120 minutes each on consecutive days. We have mid-week and weekend courses available. We teach out of our studio location at Maroubra beach
